About Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is grouped into two categories — primary and secondary. Primary FMS is the most common and is also called “idopathic” FMS, meaning it has an unknown cause in western medicine.Secondary FMS is associated with other injuries or illness. It often occurs after a neck injury.Researchers have found people with FMS may have imbalances in any of the following brain chemicals or hormones: Serotonin, Melatonin, Cortisol and Substance P. They may also have high activity levels in the parts of the brain that process pain.I have worked on many people suffering with Fibromyalgia and they always had misalignment of the cervical, and upper thoracic vertebrae.

This is probably the ‘Unknown Cause’. These misalignments will usually cause upper back pain or neck pain / stiffness. When the vertebrae go out of alignment the body, using its innate intelligence tries to fix the problem. Muscles of the affected facet joints and other muscles in the area contract to try to pull the joints back to within their correct area of movement.

These muscles produce a waste product which is mostly lactic acid and as this waste builds up the muscles get progressively sorer. This soreness is what is often diagnosed as Fibromyalgia

The soreness will only go away when the joints go back into place, the muscles relax and the blood flowing through them can flush out the lactic acid.

The misalignment of the upper cervical vertebrae puts pressure on the veins which are the drainage system for the head. In my opinion this reduces the flow of used fluids out of the head causing an excess of fluids to build up inside the skull and put an abnormal pressure on the brain and on the cranial nerves.

I believe this abnormal pressure on the nerves causes them not to function correctly and consequently cause many different kinds of disorder to the head and brain. Some of these disorders are; Headaches, Sinus, Stress, Dizziness, Tinnitus, Migraine, Anger, Bad Temper, Ear Infections, Neuralgia, Etc.

There is a basic law of physics which says, “If you alter the structure you alter the function”.

The abnormal pressure on the cranial nerves alters their structure and it follows that their function must be altered. The function of nerves is communication. When they are altered by the abnormal pressure on them they can no longer function at 100% of their capacity so there is a lack of, or distortion of communication within the cranial vault and that is the probable cause of the imbalances of the chemicals in the brain as mentioned above.

I use some deep muscle massage, CranioSacral Therapy, Spinology, and Scenar Therapy to correct the misalignments of the vertebrae. The body is then able to start healing itself and get rid of these disorders. Most people feel better after the first session but it always takes a few sessions to allow the body to heal itself fully.
